Private classes at Kailua Music School start at age four — and we also offer adult music lessons! Classes are catered to each student individually, combining classical training with popular styles, or any mix in between.
Pricing begins at $45 for a 30-minute session or $85 per hour. Coaches are available seven days a week with varying schedules.

Do I need to own an instrument to start lessons?
Not Immediately. Kailua Music School has plenty of instruments on site that can be used during lessons. We can also help guide you on what to purchase for home use too.
How do I enroll or get started?
You can fill out our online inquiry form, email us, or call the front desk. We’ll help you schedule your first lesson and match you with the right coach.
Do you offer trial lessons?
Yes! Trial lessons are available so you can meet your teacher, try the instrument, and see if it’s a good fit.
Where is KMS located?
Kailua Music School is located at 131 Hekili St #209, Kailua, HI 96734.
We are open from 12pm-7pm on weekdays and 9am-2:30pm on weekends.
What styles of music do you teach?
We teach a variety of styles including classical, pop, rock, jazz, and more. Lessons are personalized based on your interests.
Creative Programs
Kailua Music School Programs
Kailua Music School offers rotating seasonal programs and week-long summer camps in music, theater, fashion, coding, crafts, critical thinking, and more. With flexible drop-ins and hands-on learning, students of all ages can explore creativity, build skills, and have fun in a supportive, interactive environment.
Kids Theater
A creative, fast-moving theater course held at our new Studio 50 Arts location in downtown Kailua. Over 20 weeks, students collaborate on acting, improv, music, dance, and scriptwriting—culminating in original performances shaped by their ideas. All levels welcome.
Sewing & Fashion Classes
Explore sewing and fashion design in hands-on classes that guide students from beginner to intermediate skills. Create personalized projects, learn machine operation, pattern reading, and fabric selection. Fall classes include a unique opportunity to showcase and sell your creations at Studio 50 in Kailua, gaining real-world retail experience. Fabric is provided, with options to bring your own prints.
Junior Filmmakers
A hands-on filmmaking course at Kailua Music School where kids and teens explore story-building, animation, cinematography, directing, and editing. Over 20 weeks, students collaborate to create and showcase their own finished films, gaining confidence and creative skills in a fun environment.
DJ Turntable Class
An exciting hands-on class where young music enthusiasts learn DJ basics—mixing, scratching, and creating beats. Students build confidence behind the decks and get to showcase their skills as guest DJs at a live event.

Popsquad returns to Aikahi! Students explore vocals, songwriting, and stage presence in this fun, high-energy program. Led by Kailua Music School, this creative class builds confidence through music and collaboration.

ʻUkulele Club returns to Kaʻōhao! In this engaging and supportive class, students learn chords, strumming, songwriting, and performance. Instruments are provided each week, and keiki build confidence through music and teamwork.

New this fall! DJ Turntables is a hands-on class where students learn to mix, blend, and scratch like real DJs. Using pro-level gear, keiki will explore rhythm, sound science, and self-expression through music technology.
