KMS Group Classes

The Kailua Music School band classes are designed to gather and build like minded, like aged, similarly skilled and similarly driven students into a performing, recording rock/pop/alternative/reggae/ska/metal band. Similarly, our group classes are structured to prepare students for high quality cohesive and dynamic band and group performance. We provide the training, the mentorship and opportunities for the kids and adults. Sounds like a laundry list of things that need to line up for a music group to work, right? It is. The first thing to know when you are coming into the KMS band program, is to know that no band, especially kids, will sound like the Beatles or 21 Pilots overnight. It takes months and months of training, group work, dedicated individual home practice, patience and commitment to become a strong-sounding contributor to a music group. It is also one of the most rewarding things for a student to be a part of.

Our structured group classes prepare students for high-quality performances and provide opportunities for training, mentorship, and growth. While becoming a strong contributor takes time, practice, patience, and commitment, it is one of the most rewarding experiences a student can have. Vocal

Develop your singing skills in a fun, supportive environment. Learn proper breathing, pitch control, harmony, and performance techniques with our experienced vocal coaches.

Band
Classes

Join a band with like-minded peers and receive guidance on performance and songwriting. Learn valuable skills and have fun while rocking out with your bandmates. Our Band Programs are currently forming Rock/Pop/Alternative groups. Classes and programs are hour-long weekly classes. If you're interested in courses for your preschooler and kindergartener ages 4-6 years old, see our Confidence Rocks Mini Camp, new to the Fall Semester class lineup. All our band classes include performance & recording opportunities.

Upon request (new or current students) individual assessments will be made to determine the right fit for a band for your child. Sign up now to get your student a band placement. Fall Semester programs begin in August!

Ukulele (Kalama Beach)

Our group ukulele lessons are perfect for beginners or those looking to improve their skills. Learn strumming patterns, chord progressions, and popular songs in a fun, friendly environment.

DJ Class

Learn to DJ in a fun and productive environment! This is a skill that can translate to lifelong opportunities to make income being a DJ at events like parties, weddings, coroporate events, you name it.
Yves Vibar-Kline, (who DJ’s professionally as Mettā Atom) an accomplished DJ and music producer, will be coaching the class.

Dungeons & Dragons

Spring Dungeons and Dragons with Coach Lala and Coach Andi was a huge hit with the kids!  They created characters and storylines, wore costumes and spent every other for Sunday for three hours doing sneaky learning in a creative environment.
If your child enjoys reading, creative writing, adventure type of settings and creating characters, they would likely love this. 
I believe we are capping the students at 8 total, so reach out soon if you’d like to reserve your spot.

Confidence Rocks Mini Class

Confidence Rocks Class introduces young kids to a world of music! This class for kids 4-6 years old includes a mix of storytime, musical instruments, and group play.
Kailua Music School is a blast for growing musicians and introduces kids to core musical concepts. It’s the perfect class for preschoolers and early elementary students who want to get started with music! Kids will learn about core musical concepts, like loud and soft, fast and slow, and high and low notes. Some of these concepts will be introduced through story time. 
We will also incorporate movement-based activities. This allows students to express themselves through music and dance. Students are introduced to instruments like the ukulele, drum kit, microphones and keyboard. At the same time, they learn fundamental skills that prepare them for music lessons.

Confidence Rocks music classes for kids also tap into a number of key early childhood skills. Through Kailua Music School, young students can build skills like counting, pattern recognition, hand-eye coordination, social skills, and auditory awareness. Plus, kids can have fun, make friends, and unlock their inner musician!
